Adventure Theory | Episode 1 : What is Adventure?

What is Adventure?

We canโ€™t always go on these epic journeys, but we always want to do epic things.

What is epic?

What is adventurous?

What do these things even mean anymore?

I think we place a lot of pressure on ourselves to do the most ambitious thing possible because of social media, because this is something I think others think is cool or because we want to impress our friends or family.

(Did this adventure really happen if it wasn't social media worthy?)

WE DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT!

I think adventure can be something as easy as trying a new restaurant, it be something as simple as reading a book. It can be something as wholesome as bringing a significant other family member or stranger to a place you have already been.ย

That, I would challenge, is what I consider adventurous. The idea of going on an adventure can be something that is new to you or someone else.ย

I think we normally associate adventure with high risk actions like skydiving or scuba diving or going on a roller coaster or taking a race car on a track going 200 miles an hour, but something has equally as adventurous is trying a new food you never have before or meeting someone of a different culture or heritage as you.

You don't necessarily have to go to a new destination only to be adventurous. You could experience a new piece of culture, a different heritage than what you're used to. I think that, that is adventurous. That could be considered an adventure.

โ€ŠEach of us are on different levels of travel experience, and that is ok! Be supportive of those that might not be on your same level and help them experience the things you love. Help them not be as fearful of the new adventure.ย

This channel is to help you with that if i can. My goal is to help you think of new ways of going out and seeing the world, learning to appreciate different culture and heritage, natural wonder, so that we can hopefully preserve it for others to experience.ย

Travel in itself has been a passion of mine for the last 25 plus years. And as I've grown older, I have gained a certain level of wisdom in those travels where I can no longer stay up to three in the morning, partying all night, stumbling back two miles away into my hostel.

โ€ŠI can't do that anymore. I have to adjust based on my current constraints.ย

I'm in my thirties with a family. And so I'm having to adjust my travel and adventure experiences based on that.ย ย

โ€ŠThat isn't to say I have a fear missing out on every experience possible, I just need to adjust my plan to accomodate my family and time. And that is ok too!

Here are the list of questions I ask myself before I plan any of my adventures.ย

Is this something I have done before?

Is it something that is unique or something that is off the beaten path

Is it a World Heritage site?

Is it a UNESCO creative city?

Is it a National Park?

Is it a place that has inspired others to create amazing things because of it?

Is it a Michelin Star restaurant? Is it on any other restaurant lists or is it new?

Is it something that my loved ones have never done before or something that I would like to experience again with a different perspective because I wasnโ€™t able to accomplish everything at this location before?

I plan my adventures based off of time and financial constraint. You may use that as a starting point for planning your adventures I am of the opinion that these five things are no particular order for every single time I travel they adjust based on my needs at the time.

Find something you're passionate about and make a list of things you want to see/do based off those passions.

My travels led me to photography which in turn led me to want to see every single UNESCO world heritage site. That is my goal.

Now tell me what is your next adventure?

Would love to hear it.ย

Boldly going,ย

The idea of adventure my adventure theory is not something that no one has ever done before, but something that you have never done before. I plan my adventures out using this simple outline.

Adventure Theory

Low Difficulty/ High Reward

Beautiful views, easy to get to, waterfall

High traffic area (Lot of people in the background of some shots and the ceremony)

No cell service (Took a min to gather everyone for ceremony, recommend to carpool together) No designated spot to conduct the ceremony so we picked a spot we liked.ย

Multiple different locations to shoot nearby that allows for maximum use of time in the area.ย

No commercial food spots nearby, the visitor centers in the park are the closest spots for food ranging from 10-25min away depending on the visitor center.ย

Estes Park

Take a car and drive. Alluvial falls is on google maps.ย
