The year is 120 B.C. You are a traveling merchant sailing through the Aegean Sea from Egypt.

Your father’s jewelry business is doing well at home. He has taught you everything he knows about the craft and he would like to try to distribute his products all around the mediterranean. You and your partner as well as your two teenage children will be joining you on this voyage. You travel from island to island and after a year of voyage you end up at the island of Delos. 

Hello there and welcome back to our podcast that aims to enlighten, inspire, and uplift you. I’m your host and today we’re headed to a beautiful and awe-inspiring location, the ancient city of Delos, near Mykonos, Greece. Delos is a place full of history, culture, and natural beauty that has been a world heritage site for many years.

Now, to get to Delos, you must first head to the nearby island of Mykonos. Once you arrive in Mykonos, you can take a short ferry ride to the ancient city of Delos. Ferry tickets can be purchased from the port of Mykonos and there are several departures throughout the day. Once you arrive in Delos, you will be amazed by the beautiful scenery and the rich history of this ancient city.

Delos became a world heritage site in 1990, due to its outstanding cultural and natural significance. It is considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and is often referred to as the ‘island of light’ due to its historical and spiritual significance. The city of Delos was once the commercial and religious center of the ancient world and was home to a plethora of temples, marketplaces, and monuments.

The ancient city of Delos is known for its unique architecture, beautiful mosaics, and exquisite sculptures. Some of the fun facts about Delos include the fact that it is believed to have been the birthplace of the Greek god Apollo and his twin sister Artemis. The island was also considered to be the center of the Cyclades, which is a group of islands that surrounds Delos. One of the most famous monuments on the island is the Terrace of the Lions, which is a row of marble lions that was believed to have been dedicated to Apollo.
